- Hadar Tsarfaty (b. 1995, Tel Aviv) is an artist based in London. She holds an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art, London, and a BA in Fine Arts (cum laude) from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam.
In her work, Hadar Tsarfaty considers the embodiment of language in material. As this embodiment is a possibility for public negotiation, while in its immediate presence it suggests a private expression, the work reflects on the connection between the written and the spoken. When presenting such works, audiences take the role of the speaker of these works. Holding the potential of speech the works communicate through and not in language, they can share language but not respond. Working with screen printing on textile, the works emphasise environmental considerations and their connection to displacement and dislocation. Textile understood as the silent carrier of language, in its histories, presentation and representation, is the connection of hearing and seeing to performativity.
